One of the easiest ways to do this is to use a golf swing trainer. The ones I prefer weigh between 1.5 and 2 pounds or 24 to 32 ounces. By swinging the trainers 2 to 3 minutes, 3 to 5 times a week, will not only build strength but will also build muscle memory. I have found that by using too much weight can create excess centrifugal force and may cause muscle strain.

The outdoor swing trainers have heads on them so you can hit practice balls with them. This of course is a weighted club so when you switch back to your regular clubs they will feel much lighter and you can create more club head speed. This is similar to baseball players using weighted bats before they enter the batter's box.

The trainers also come in an indoor model and can be used at the office or at home because it is much shorter and can be swung almost anywhere.

If you continue to use the swing trainers year round not only will you increase your distance but you will build muscle memory that can help you through the winter months. You may even escape without having your handicap go off the chart.

As we age we need to stretch before we practice or play and using the swing trainers will help you strengthen and stretch your muscles and hopefully will help you shoot a low round. Hope this helps and adds some distance to your tee shots.
